Does an eSIM change your phone number?

When you install an eSIM, it doesn’t alter your phone number associated with your regular SIM card. Your phone number remains the same, and you can continue to use it as you normally would, as long as you don’t turn off cellular data. You can continue to use your primary phone number for your calls and main communication apps. You can continue to receive SMS and calls on your primary line as long as you haven’t deactivated your primary line in your cellular settings.

If an app detects a change in phone number, you might be prompted to update your phone number. Simply choose the option of not updating, and you will still be able to keep your original number on these apps.

If you have an eSIM installed for data and connectivity needs, but still want to make cellular calls using your primary line, you can configure it in your device settings.

Go to Settings > Connections > SIM Manager select Default Voice Line and choose the SIM plan that you want to make calls with.
