Soccer fever is gearing up and the countdown to summer 2026 is already building excitement.
The International Football Tournament returns to North America and this time for the first time it will be with 48 teams competing across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The tournament will be held from June 11 – July 19, jointly hosted by sixteen cities—eleven in the United States, three in Mexico, and two in Canada.
Monterrey is one of the three host cities in Mexico. It will probably be the hottest host city during the tournament. In June and July temperatures can reach from 35–40°C with high humidity.
The city is widely considered the most modern, industrial, and developed city in Mexico. It is a major commercial hub characterized by sleek skyscrapers, American-style shopping malls, high-tech industry, and a business-focused atmosphere, particularly in the affluent suburb of San Pedro Garza García.
All matches are at Estadio BBVA. Estadio BBVA, nicknamed El Gigante de Acero (“The Steel Giant”), is one of the architectural stars of the entire tournament.
The stadium opened in 2015 and has a capacity of around 53,000. It was built with a giant steel exoskeleton and designed to frame the Sierra Madre mountains behind the pitch.
There will be three group stage matches and one knockout stage match.
June 14, 2026 — Sweden vs Tunisia
June 20, 2026 — Tunisia vs Japan
June 24, 2026 — South Africa vs South Korea
June 29, 2026 — Round of 32
Driving will be close to impossible, roads around the stadium will be gridlocked and large security zones will slow everything down. Parking will be limited and should be pre-reserved.
The best way to get to the stadium will be by metro and walking. Take the Metrorrey Line 1, exit at Exposición station, and walk about 15–20 minutes to the stadium.
The main fan zone will be at Fundidora Park. This urban park will offer giant screens, concerts, food stands, beer gardens, and nonstop match screenings.
Get ready to discover iconic landmarks, world-class venues, vibrant neighborhoods, and 39-days of fan celebrations across the region.
