What Are The Top Ten Tallest And Scariest Water Slides In The World

Always on the lookout for the next crazy thrill? Well, imagine going down a water slide 76 meter high in Qatar or a free-fall slide in Brazil! If you think roller coasters aren’t enough anymore, try one of these water slides.

1. Vertigo – Qatar 🇶🇦

Lets start with Vertigo at Meryal Waterpark in Qatar. At about 76.4 meters (250.5 feet), it towers above the competition, featuring a capsule drop-door launch. It is currently listed as the tallest water slide in the world.

2. Emerald Blur & Golden Wing Spiral – Turkey 🇹🇷

Turkey has joined the top 10 list for the tallest water slides in a big way.

In Antalya you will find the new Waterfly area at Land of Legends. It features the 52-meter (171 feet) Dragonfly Tower, with giant slides including Emerald Blur and Golden Wing Spiral.

The new attraction opened in 2026, being one of the newest entries among the world’s tallest water slides.

3. Kilimanjaro – Brazil 🇧🇷

While the next slide is definitely shorter than Vertigo, it is still insane! Kilimanjaro in Aldeia das Águas Park Resort in Barra do Piraí, Rio de Janeiro in Brazil stands at 49.9 meters (164 feet). This monster of a body slide has been one of the world’s most famous water slides for years.

The name is fitting. It takes courage to climb to the top of that slide and it feels like climbing a mountain. It is recognized for its massive drop angle and intense velocity and some riders have reached roughly 90-96 km/h (56–60 mph) on the descent!

4. Hurricane Tower – China 🇨🇳

Next up is Hurricane Tower located at the 88°C Spring Water World (Lewa City) in Xianyang, Shaanxi, China. At around 45 meters (148 feet), it is another giant of the water-slide world.

Imagine climbing higher and higher and then plunging from nearly 20 stories high. You will experience a near-vertical drop that reaches extreme velocities.

5. The Fall – Rise of Icarus – USA 🇺🇸

The Rise of Icarus at Mt. Olympus Water & Theme Park in Wisconsin Dells features five slides. The tallest one, The Fall, rises about 44.2 meters (145 feet).

The park opened in 2024 and The Fall became the tallest water slide in the United States and North America.

6. Thrillagascar & Jungle Jammer – USA 🇺🇸

DreamWorks Water Park in New Jersey is home of the twin slides Thrillagascar and Jungle Jammer.

These slides rise 43.3 meters (142 feet) and are among the tallest indoor water slides in the world.

The scary part? You will stand in a vertical capsule while a countdown plays before the trapdoor opens beneath their feet. Three… two… one…and good luck.

7. Captain Spacemaker – Italy 🇮🇹

At Caribe Bay Water Park in Lido di Jesolo, Italy, Captain Spacemaker reaches 42 meters (138 feet). Being one of the tallest water slides in Europe, 3-4 riders travel in a rubber raft down a steep 60-degree slope.

You shouldn’t worry just about the height. That’s not the only thing that makes this slide scary. The rafts can reach speeds at up to 100 km/h (62 mph)!

8. Daredevil’s Peak – Bahamas 🇧🇸

It looks spectacular and the name says everything.

Daredevil’s Peak is located at Thrill Waterpark on Royal Caribbean’s private island, Perfect Day at CocoCay, in the Bahamas. The slide rises 41.1 meters (135 feet) and is the tallest water slide in the Caribbean.

Instead of simply dropping straight down, this ride sends brave passengers through a giant spiral, making it to one of the scariest slides in the world.

9. Insano – Brazil 🇧🇷

For the last two slides on this list we return to Brazil. The first is Insano at Beach Park resort in Aquiraz, near Fortaleza, Brazil.

Insano stands 41 meters (135 feet) tall, which is the height of a 14-story building. The slide  is famous for its near-free-fall experience. With a 70 degree angle, riders can reach up to 105 km/h (65 mph).

The slide’s name means exactly what you think it means.

You walk up – you look down – someone asks “Ready?” – and you probably won’t have time to answer…..

10. Meteor – Brazil 🇧🇷

The last slide on this list is Meteor. It is an extreme water slide at Wet’n Wild in São Paulo, Brazil. The trap-door free-fall water slide reaches 40 meters (131 feet) and can reach up to 100 km/h (62 mph).

You don’t slowly begin the ride. You step into the capsule, you wait, the door opens, …and off you go!

Ready for the Thrill?

From the tallest water slide in the world, Vertigo, to famous giants like Kilimanjaro, Insano, and Captain Spacemaker, they are towering structures hundreds of feet above the ground. They are packed with steep drops, trapdoors, twists, launches, and speeds that would make your swimming goggles nervous.

Just remember: when you’re standing at the top of one of these slides and your brain says, “Maybe I shouldn’t…” – your brain may have a point. 😄
