Groot Constantia is a historical wine estate located in Cape Town, and is the oldest working winery in the country. Today it operates as a museum and tourist destination, where visitors can take tours of the grounds, learn about the estate’s history, and enjoy tastings of the wines produced here.

The wine estate has a long history, dating back to 1685 when it was founded by Dutch governor Simon van der Stel. The estate was one of the most productive and successful wine farms in the Cape Colony. Unfortunately, it fell into decline in the early 20th century and was eventually closed. Not until 1969 Groot Constantia was revived as a historical site and working winery. 

Today, it is once again a popular destination for tourists and wine lovers alike. Visitors can take a tour of the estate to learn about the wine-making process. You can sample some of the Estate’s wines, enjoy a meal at the restaurant or visit the museum.

Robben Island, one of the world heritage sites, is located off the coast of Cape Town. The island was originally used as a leper colony, but later became an apartheid prison, where. Nelson Mandela, the world-famous South African leader of the anti-apartheid movement, was imprisoned for 18 years. Nowadays, the island is open to tours, and visitors can view the cell where Nelson Mandela was held, as well as the prisons and leper colony.

The island is also home to a variety of wildlife, including penguins, seals, and ostriches and a feral population of peacocks. You can reach the island by boat and the boat trip to Robben Island from Cape Town takes about an hour. Tickets can be purchased at the Waterfront or online. Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens is one of the most beautiful gardens in the world, home to over 22,000 different plant species offering visitors the chance to see some of the rarest and most beautiful flowers in the world. It is also a conservation hotspot, dedicated to protecting and propagating endangered plant species. In addition, Kirstenbosch is a haven for birders, with more than 200 different species of birds having been recorded in the gardens.
