Why am I still receiving text messages with an eSIM?
A data only eSIM will not provide you with a new phone number, so you will not be able to receive or send text or voice messages with your eSIM. You will be able to receive/send SMS or leave/receive voice messages with your primary SIM card, as long as you leave your primary SIM on/active and activate Data Roaming on your eSIM.
If you turn off your primary SIM card completely, then you won’t be able to send/receive text/voice messages.
Please note, depending on your carrier or network provider, you might be charged for text messages and phone calls if traveling outside your service plan.
