Must-Have Apps for Travel In the Seychelles: Your Digital Toolkit

Ditch the paper maps and heavy guidebooks. Your smartphone is all you’ll need to help you navigate the tropical wilds and waters of the Seychelles.

We’ve put together a guide to the best apps that you can use all over the country – whether you have to hail a cab, hit the road, or catch the bus. And, with the Red Bull MOBILE eSIM, you’ll have all the data necessary to use any or all of these apps – without the crazy roaming charges.

  1. Seychelles E-Border – Easy Arrivals

The Seychelles border has been digitized, so you can complete your travel authorization online before you even pack your bags. This app allows you to submit your health information, passport details, and any other necessary documents for arrivals in the Seychelles.

  1. Visit Seychelles – Your Pocket Guide

Put out by the official Seychelles tourism department, this app is full of local recommendations, itineraries, insider tips, interactive maps, and even a real-time currency converter. You can book accommodation, get weather updates and travel alerts, find nearby restaurants, and learn about the many water and land adventures to be had all over the many islands of the Seychelles.

  1. LinkUp – Schedule A Cab

Taxis in the Seychelles are notoriously expensive. They are independent and generally affiliated with taxi stands on the main islands: Mahe, Praslin, and La Digue. With LinkUp, you can arrange a cab ride – just don’t wait till the last minute. You can choose to pay your driver in cash or from the app by uploading money to LinkUp.

  1. SPTC – Real-time Bus Schedule

For the budget-conscious among us, this app has the bus schedules and route info for Mahé and Praslin. The Seychelles Public Transport Corporation’s (SPTC) app also let’s you pay by QR code (though you can also usually buy tickets from the driver or from the supermarket). This app is what you need to help you get around the Seychelles without breaking the bank.

  1. Google Maps and Maps.Me – Know Where You’re Going

These navigation apps are your starting point for exploring the Seychelles. Learn your way around, discover nearby attractions, and even get yourself to some of the more remote parts of the islands. You can also download offline maps on either (or both!) apps before you go, which is great for hiking or venturing into areas where cell service might be spotty. Maps.me is well-connected to the Seychelles public bus system, and accurately lists out local bus stops.

  1. Red Bull MOBILE Data app – Roaming-Free Data

Stay connected while traveling through the Seychelles and avoid roaming fees with the Red Bull MOBILE eSIM. This SIM card is downloaded digitally – no need to physically install anything. You can connect to data as soon as you land, without needing to track down a SIM card seller. Even better, you won’t have to worry about downloading offline maps, struggling to find Wi-Fi hotspots, or connecting to spotty hotel internet. With the Red Bull MOBILE Data app, you can manage your eSIM package whenever you want. If you decide to stay longer or head elsewhere, all you have to do is log in to the app, choose a new package, and get moving!
