Do I need a SIM card to move to eSIM?

You must have an active SIM card so you can receive text messages and/or confirmation emails in regards to your purchase for an eSIM. As of now, only the iPhone 14 in the US has an eSIM only cell phone. All other brands and models still have a SIM card.

If you don’t have a SIM card, contact your cell phone provider to receive one. Then you can use it to purchase and activate an eSIM.
