Data Roaming on land, cruise ships, and ferries
Whenever you travel, you should check with your network provider or carrier if your destination is included in your plan to avoid expensive roaming charges. This not only applies to land coverage but to cruise ships and ferries as well.
Don’t forget to turn off data roaming as soon as you arrive in a country outside your coverage, or step on board a cruise ship or a ferry, since your network could connect to the vessel’s network, and that is considered roaming. Even if you are still docked in port, as soon as your network connects to the ship’s network, most likely it might not be included in your data plan.
Check with your network provider if the country you are visiting, the cruise ship or ferry is covered in your plan. If they offer add-on plans, compare rates. International add-on plans or cruise ship plans tend to be more expensive. Look into prepaid data roaming plans, such as the eSIM from Red Bull MOBILE for land coverage or the Red Bull Telenor Maritime package for cruise ships and ferries.
While WiFi packages on cruise ships or ferries might be available, they can be expensive and WiFi service might not be available everywhere. Red Bull currently offers two Telenor Maritime packages so you can stay connected.
