  • Los Angeles is a city in the south of the US state of California. It is the centre of the American film and television industry. Studios such as Paramount Pictures, Universal and Warner Brothers offer tours of their sets.
  • The iconic Hollywood sign originally spelled out “Hollywoodland” from 1923 until 1949. It was an advertisement for a housing development! Locals grew so used to it, they decided to keep the sign, but shorten it to Hollywood, to reflect the whole area.
  • At Santa Monica Pier, you’ll find Pacific Park, an oceanfront amusement park. There you can hop on the ferris wheel (Pacific Wheel), which soars 26 metres into the air. It offers spectacular views of Southern California’s coastline and is entirely powered by solar power.
  • L.A. will have hosted the Olympics three times. First in 1932, then again in 1984, and now it is set to host the games once again in 2028.
